God Has Supplied, We Must Do!

“For the kingdom of heaven is like a man traveling to a far country, who called his own servants and delivered his goods to them.  And to one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability; and immediately he went on a journey. (Matthew 25:14, 15 NKJV)

In the parable of the talents, each servant is given a portion of talent according to his ability.  The portion of talent given to the servant belongs to the master.  The Bible tells us the master called his own servants and delivered his goods to them. The master must have observed and knew the servants well enough to know who to give which portion.

Immediately after receiving their portions the servants did something. Two of the servants put the portion they were given to use and one servant buried the portion he was given.  The master came to his servants expecting a return on his investments.  Remember, it was his goods he initially gave to them.  The servants were like the master’s bank and he invested some of his portions into the banks.

Based on how well the servants managed the portion they were given determined their reward.  When the servant increased, by putting to use what the master gave, the master said, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.”  The servant went from servant to ruler based on his management of what his master gave him.

The servant who did not manage the master’s investment well did not receive a good reward. The servants talent, which he buried, was given to the servant who was a proven manager and he was cast into outer darkness.

Likewise, those of us who are believers and born again have been given Holy Spirit.  God has invested His Spirit in us. We are expected to make a return on His investment.  The journey of life does not end with us being saved. We are expected to do. In Jesus Name.

Prayer:  Thank You Father for being our creator, thank You Jesus for being our Savior and thank You Holy Spirit for being our Comforter and Spirit of Truth.  You are God and God alone.  Besides You there is no other.  The One the Only Wise God.  We ask You to keep us in perfect peace as our mind is stayed on You and we continue to renew our minds by Your Word.  We love You, we trust You and we thank You. In Jesus Name.

Confession:  God has supplied all my need according to His riches and glory in Christ Jesus.  I will do what God has designed me to do in line with His Word, even if someone else might do the contrary. Not my will but God’s will be done.  Jesus is my perfect example and I will look to Him through His Word and prayer. In Jesus Name, amen.
