United Not Divided

But Jesus knew their thoughts, and said to them: “Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation, and every city or house divided against itself will not stand.” Matthew 12:25

When Jesus healed a demon-possessed man who was blind and mute, the Pharisees accused Him of casting out demons with the authority of the ruler of demons.  Jesus explains that division brings about destruction.  This is a common battle tactic of the enemy, also known as divide and conquer.

While Jesus was in the earth, the enemy attempted to divide believers before the birth of the Church.  John tells Jesus about a man casting out demons in Jesus Name and how they tried to prevent him because the man was not following with them.  Jesus replies, “Do not hinder him…he who is not against us is for us.”

There are people in the Body Christ who are hindering themselves because of a focus on denomination leading toward sectarianism.  We have a responsibility to unite in our local Body or Churches, in order to defeat the enemy’s division tactic.  Paul explains we are all members of one Body and God has places each member as He sees fit.

Jesus is specific when He says, “EVERY kingdom, city and house divided against itself will not stand”.  There are local churches, communities, and households divided resulting in destruction.  Therefore, we say NO MORE.   Take a stance today to get the division, or divided-vision, out.

It starts in your home.  Find out what the Word of God says about family and marriage and align yourself to that vision.  Your household vision will then affect your community.  Your local church is gathering of believes from your community. In your local Bible believing and teaching church, find out the vision and align yourself to that vision.

Prayer:  Father, we align ourselves to Your Word.  Your Word says brothers’ dwelling in unity is good and pleasant. We make a decision to walk in a manner worthy of the calling that we have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, showing tolerance for one another in love, being diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.  Father we love You, we trust You and we thank You. In Jesus Name. Amen.
